Coastline monitoring using autonomous high-altitude platforms (HAPs)
Project Summary
Maritime border control is a high-priority concern for the Australian Defence Force.
Currently, Australia’s 50,000km coastline is monitored by aircraft through short-term missions to survey pre-selected areas of interest. These airborne missions are expensive and do not deliver a high temporal nor spectral resolution.
To address these challenges, Lux Aerobot will develop a solution consisting of a constellation system of self-organising, low-cost, high altitude balloons to provide near real-time ship detection.
