Developing neuroscience-based approaches to assessing and enhancing human cognitive performance in challenging operational environments
Project Summary
The Australian Defence Force (ADF) has outlined a need for research focused on development and application of cognitive optimisation technology, knowledge and skills to produce soldiers who are resilient and adaptable decision makers under complex and ambiguous conditions. The human brain is the most valuable asset for sustaining the ADF’s capability edge.
This project aims to develop a neurobiological marker that predicts individual cognitive capacity, an augmented reality (AR) wearable solution to assess cognitive demands associated with operational task performance, and an AR-integrated biofeedback system for self-regulation of neural and physiological states conducive to optimised performance.
