South Australia is home to a significant Defence presence including Defence Science and Technology’s largest operation, around 3500 members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) permanent forces and 1770 Reserve forces, supported by more than 2200 employees of the Department of Defence.

Key ADF operational units, research and development activities, and major test and training facilities are important contributors to South Australia’s economic growth.
